That’s why we always make a conscious effort to give something back to the community such as our sponsorship of the ‘Wokingham Times’ Community Cash tokens which rewards charities and non-profit making groups in the local area with £200 worth of funding.
The latest lucky recipients are the team behind the Arborfield Over 60s club, a community group in existence for almost 70 years that gives elderly people the chance to meet up with people of a similar age and go on various day trips.
Held at Arborfield Village Hall twice monthly, members are also treated to talks by various speakers.
It seems as though the £200 reward has come at exactly the right time for the club.
Club chairman Dr Ken Ridgway said: “We try to have at least one outing a year, but coach prices have gone up so much that unless we get a grant we can’t do it.
“I am absolutely staggered we have won the £200 prize.”
The money is therefore set to be put towards the group’s next outing.
Our managing director Mark Ashwell commented: “It is a wonderful club with Mr and Mrs Ridgway providing the classic husband and wife combination of chairman and treasurer!
“They are really serving their community proud. Our community cash will enable everyone to go on a trip this winter by paying for the coach.”
We couldn’t be happier that the cash has gone to such a valuable cause.
