Ice Edge
Ice Edge is a revolutionary company offering a unique cleaning service, whereby environmentally friendly dry ice is used instead of water. Where as common conservatory cleaning processes, such as water jet blasting, create a mess whilst cleaning and can result in water dripping into the joints of the structure, dry ice blasting offers a process with minimal clean-up and no risk of harming the surface or weatherproof seals being cleaned through abrasion or water damage.
The Process
The dry ice cleaning process uses pellets that are made through a process of taking Liquid Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and expanding it to produce a snow like substance. The pellets are then propelled by a compressed air gun and upon impact; the dry ice creates a micro-thermal shock (caused by the extreme cold temperature of -79º C) which breaks the bond between the coating and the substrate. The high pressure air stream removes the dirt from the surface, while the dry ice pellets vaporize.
